This programs prepares students for employment in a variety of positions in today's medical offices. The Medical Assisting program provides learning opportunities which introduce, develop, and reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. Medical Assistants are multi-skilled allied health professionals specifically trained to work in ambulatory settings, such as physicians' offices, clinics, and group practices, performing administrative and clinical procedures.

- Medical Assisting classes are offered daytime and online at the Hall, Forsyth, and Barrow campuses. Dawson and Jackson campus will be offering night courses based on enrollment need.

- The Lanier Technical College Medical Assisting diploma programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (www.caahep.org) upon recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).
The program is approximately 3 semesters after the completion of core classes. Students complete an 8-week clinical rotation their last semester. Students also sit for a certification exam at the end of their program. Students are able to start the program any semester. The medical assisting program does not require any competitive admission process.
